In the late spring of 2020, when there was much in the news about the struggles of the US Postal Service and its very existence was threatened, I was horrified and furious. I decided to do my part by purchasing a lot of stamps and announced to my friends on social media that I would mail a letter to whomever wanted one. This project evolved into art by mail as well as a letter. Over a period of about 3 months, I drew more than 150 small drawings and sent them off. I received many letters and pieces of artwork back. It was wonderful to receive personal mail and I enjoyed corresponding with people that way. It helped me deal with the anxiety and doubts that the pandemic created for all of us, and provided me with some healthy focus. Here’s a selection of those drawings. Many were little series or variations on an assortment of themes.
