About

I’ve been an artist all my life.

I have always loved drawing pictures and making things with my hands.  I spent much of my childhood and teen years exploring a variety of media and materials, from drawing and painting to silversmithing, photography, and printmaking, to ceramics, knitting, and sewing. I studied art at Boston University and earned a BFA in painting. Following graduation, I spent many years as an art teacher at the Winsor School in Boston and painted when I could. When I left there, I studied illustration at the Art Institute of Boston and became a freelance editorial illustrator for about 13 years. Later still, my life took another turn and I went to graduate school and trained to become a Waldorf teacher. During this time, I encountered the ancient art of felt making and was instantly smitten. I have been exploring it for more than 20 years since then. I love the tactile quality of the wool, the physicality of the creation of felt, and the seemingly endless possibilities they offer. There is always something new to discover. Felt making straddles fine art and craft and provides a depth of experience I find satisfying. Sometimes it feels like magic. The connection to people - especially women - from the past moves me as well.

I currently spend as much time in the studio as possible, using a combination of wet and dry, ancient and modern techniques. I enjoy working with private students and teaching classes locally and online.
